Fees & funding
DVA Funding
Mind Connections has supported the veteran community for more than two decades, and our reception team handles DVA arrangements every day.
If you hold a DVA card, in most standard arrangements your treatment is fully funded with no gap payment under the DVA fee schedule.
DVA Gold Card
A Gold Card covers all clinically necessary mental health care, including psychiatric consultations and reviews, psychological therapy, and, where clinically indicated and pre-approved, advanced treatments including TMS and esketamine. There is no restriction on accepted conditions for Gold Card holders.
DVA White Card
A White Card covers treatment for your accepted conditions. Where mental health is an accepted condition, psychiatric and psychological services are funded under the DVA fee schedule. Under DVA's non-liability mental health care arrangements, many veterans can also access mental health treatment without needing a condition formally accepted as service-related; reception can advise whether this applies to you, or contact Open Arms on 1800 011 046.
How to access DVA-funded care
- Get a referral from your GP, a DVA-contracted provider, or through a Veterans' Access Network or Open Arms contact.
- When booking, provide your DVA card details and claim number. Reception will confirm coverage and handle any pre-approvals required, including for TMS or esketamine.
- Attend your appointments. Billing goes directly to DVA in standard arrangements, with no gap payment from you.
Psychiatrists consulting at Mind Connections also provide DVA claims assessments, impairment assessments and medico-legal reports for veterans. See our Defence and Veterans Support page for the full range of services.
