Our Services
Telehealth
Telehealth lets you see your clinician by secure video from a location that suits you, without travelling to one of our clinics. Psychiatrists and psychologists consulting at Mind Connections offer telehealth appointments to patients across NSW, making specialist care accessible whether you live locally, in regional NSW, or simply find it difficult to attend in person due to work, family, health or mobility.

Telehealth is well suited to follow-up reviews, medication management and many therapy appointments. Some appointments still need to be in person. Procedural treatments such as TMS and esketamine are delivered in our clinics, and your clinician may ask you to attend in person for certain assessments or when it is clinically appropriate. If you are unsure whether telehealth is right for your appointment, our reception team can help.
How it works
- Book your telehealth appointment by phone or online, the same way you would book an in-clinic visit.
- On the day of your appointment, a text message with the link to your video consultation will be sent to your mobile.
- Find a quiet, private space with a stable internet connection ready for the call.
- Open the link at your appointment time and your clinician will join you for the consultation.
What you will need
- A private, quiet space where you will not be interrupted
- A smartphone, tablet or computer with a working camera and microphone
- A stable internet connection
Making the most of your telehealth appointment
Treat a telehealth appointment with the same preparation as an in-person visit. Have your Medicare card, medication list and any questions ready. If you would like a support person present, let your clinician know at the start of the call. If your connection drops out, stay by your phone; the clinic will call you to continue or rebook.
Medicare and fees
Medicare rebates apply to eligible telehealth consultations with psychiatrists and psychologists, just as they do for in-person appointments. Reception can confirm the fee and rebate for your specific appointment type when you book.
Urgent and emergency support
Telehealth is not a service for emergencies. If you need urgent mental health support, please call the NSW Mental Health Line on 1800 011 511, or Lifeline on 13 11 14. If it is a life-threatening emergency, please call triple zero (000).
Frequently asked questions
Is telehealth as effective as seeing my clinician in person?
For many appointment types, including reviews, medication management and talking therapy, research shows telehealth outcomes are comparable to in-person care. Your clinician will let you know if any part of your care is better delivered face to face.
Do I need special software?
No. The video link sent to your phone opens in an ordinary web browser on your phone, tablet or computer. There is nothing to install.
Does Medicare cover telehealth appointments?
Yes, Medicare rebates apply to eligible telehealth consultations in the same way as in-person appointments, provided you have a valid referral where one is required.
What if my internet drops out during the appointment?
Stay near your phone. The clinic will call you to continue the consultation by phone or to rearrange. You will not lose your appointment or be charged for technical failures.
Can my first appointment be by telehealth?
Sometimes. Many initial consultations can occur by video, but some assessments need to be conducted in person, and treatments such as TMS and esketamine always occur in clinic. Reception can confirm what applies to your booking.
Can I do telehealth from outside NSW?
Telehealth is generally available to patients located in NSW. If you are travelling or live interstate, contact reception to discuss your circumstances before booking.
